Bad Luck o’ the Irish

It snowed again this morning, and has since turned into a cold, steady rain that’s set to completely wash out what was supposed to be a fun-filled weekend.

Tonight’s agenda involves some post-work barhopping in Shockoe Bottom and up through the Slip. Cary and I had planned to start at Tiki Bob’s for happy hour, move up to Sine for a bit and then meet Rob for his birthday gathering at either Tobacco Company or Richbrau. Tonight kicks off the pre-St. Patty’s festivities, but stupid me forgot all about it and wore black instead of green. Guess it’s been that kind of week. And damned if I wanna be running around downtown Richmond all night in this weather!

Speaking of which, Shockoe Bottom is having their big St. Patty’s street party, Shamrock the Block, tomorrow afternoon but that’s shaping up to be yet another washout. I did the 2006 Chili Cookoff in the rain; I did a Jimmy Buffett concert in the rain – both times were a blast. But tomorrow is only supposed to be in the 40’s and I don’t forsee the mix of cold weather and the rain as being too much fun, no matter how drunk I manage to get.

But whether or not I go through with any of these plans is still to be determined. If anything, it’ll get me away from any drama. Jordan and I actually did manage to hide out last night. Bryce came over and we all hung out like, you know, the good old times of two weeks ago.

So my mood has improved a little, despite it being a rainy Friday the 13th. I’m trying to look on the bright side. Besides, rain is good for some things…like trees and flowers…and four leaf clovers…and rainbows with pots of gold at the end…

Still, I’m ready for some Arizona sunshine!!
